Brief Introduction to Cooperation and Exchange of
Yunnan University of Finance and Economics

  With the integration of a global economy and education, internationalization of higher education has become a significant goal for all universities. As the only comprehensive university in the field of Finance and Economics in Yunnan Province, Yunnan University of Finance and Economics (YUFE)`s distinctive advantages lie in its specialized programs and the favorable geographic location. International cooperation and exchange have rapidly developed and gratifying achievements have been made based on the support from university leaders and joint efforts contributed by all faculty members and students.
  YUFE has already established stable cooperative relationships with nearly 30 overseas universities or research institutes in 12 countries and regions so far. These universities include, but are not limited to, Charles Sturt University, Western Australia University, Keuka College and John F Kennedy University in the United States, Greenwich University in UK, San Dusit Rajabhat University in Thailand, Yangon Institute of Economics in Myanmar, Osaka Sangyo University, Teikyo University in Japan. During the period of 2001 to 2005, the university not only hosted numerous visits from different countries, but also sent approximately 200 people to go abroad for short-term visits or long-term study.
  Joint education programs are the highlights of YUFE. YUFE has sighed contracts for joint education programs with Charles Sturt University in 1999, Keuka College in 2002, Greenwich University in 2003, John Kennedy University and Manipal Higher Education Academy in April 2005. The International Business School, which has undertaken the joint education programs, has already sets up two undergraduate programs and one postgraduate. Today the number of students in International Business school exceeds 1,200. The university will continue to broaden the areas for international cooperative education as well as to upgrade its cooperation levels.
  With the implementation of ^initiatively opening up ̄ strategy in Yunnan Province, overseas student education has been a new focus for international cooperation and exchange in YUFE. From 2001 to 2005, YUFE accepted over 500 overseas students from different counties, such as the United States, Australia, Denmark, Slovenia, Vietnam and Myanmar. The university will give prominence to international education for student from Southeast Asia and South Asia, strengthen its influence on neighboring countries, and expand the number of international students up to 1,000 by the end of ^eleventh Five-Year-Plan ̄  
  As an outstanding finance and economics oriented university, internationalization will not only help us to construct a wide internationalized platform for university development, but also turn out to be an inevitable trend. YUFE will strive to accelerate its internationalization progress in the future.
