YUFE has paid great attention to scientific research. Since 2000, YUFE has been awarded one 2nd national prize, 25 provincial prizes for teaching achievements, and one 1st prize for excellent textbook compilation awarded by the Ministry of Education of China. In addition, YUFE has undertaken 41 national research projects, and 249 provincial projects. The number of academic works and textbooks published is 872; the number of scientific papers is 9970 in total, among which 78 papers are included in the SCI, EI, ISTP and ISSHP. Two scientific research achievements have been awarded national prizes and 149 achievements have been awarded ministerial and provincial prizes. Furthermore, the university published three journals: Journal of Yunnan university of Finance and Economics, Journal of Yunnan University of Finance and Economics (Social Science Edition) and Research and Consultation. YUFE has established extensive relationships with over 100 domestic higher learning, research institutes, enterprises, public institutions and local government at several levels through which a series of training bases for interschool and enterprise cooperation has been set up.
