On the afternoon of October 24, a delegation from the Ministry of Finance of the Lao People's Democratic Republic visited our university. The delegation included Mr. Oudone Thammavongsa, Director of the Accounting Department; Ms. Bounlay Thammavongsa, Deputy Division Head of the Treasury Department; and Tang Lin, Director of the Vientiane Office of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Promotion Association.

The delegation held a symposium with Vice President Yu Nutao, Zhou Yan (Director of the Accounting Division of the Yunnan Provincial Finance Department), faculty representatives from the Accounting/Audit School, and representatives from provincial enterprises and professional institutions. The meeting focused on China-Laos cooperation in the field of accounting, reaching a consensus on three key topics: "Accounting Education Cooperation," "Cross-border Corporate Accounting Service Synergy," and "International Convergence of Accounting Standards."
Yu Nutao welcomed the delegation and introduced the university's distinctive financial features and international achievements. He stated that the deepening of educational cooperation between China and Laos is a practical implementation of the "Belt and Road Initiative" and the building of a China-Laos community with a shared future. He emphasized that the university will leverage its location and academic strengths to co-build a transnational financial and accounting talent cultivation platform with the Lao Ministry of Finance.
Mr. Oudone Thammavongsa expressed appreciation for the university's achievements in accounting. He noted that with the full operation of the China-Laos Railway, the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two nations is deepening. The Lao Ministry of Finance attaches great importance to cooperating with the university and looks forward to collaborating on accounting discipline construction, standards convergence, and joint talent cultivation, specifically aiming to launch the "Accounting + Language + AI" talent project.
Zhou Yan stated that the Provincial Finance Department actively promotes accounting exchanges between provincial universities and neighboring countries. She added that the department will provide support in policy coordination and resource integration to ensure the implementation of the consensus reached by the leaders of both countries.
Li Xiaojun, Dean of the Accounting/Audit School, introduced the school's achievements in qualification training, textbook compilation, and standards revision. Zhao Na, CFO of the Hong Kong branch of Yunnan Energy Investment Group, shared practical experience in financial management for investments in Laos. General Manager Zuo Xiang of Pan-China Certified Public Accountants (Yunnan Branch), and directors from Mazars (Zhong-Shen-Zhong-Huan) discussed their business layouts in Laos.
Following the symposium, Li Xiaojun, Yu Yong (Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office), and Gao Xi (Vice Dean of the Accounting/Audit School) accompanied the delegation on a visit to the Museum of Minorities Finance and Accounting in China.
