On May 10th, leading experts and scholars from across the country gathered at Yunnan University of Finance and Economics (YUFE) for the World Social Security Research Annual Conference (2025). The event, co-hosted by the China Association of Social Security (CASS) and YUFE, focused on the theme "Social Security in the Process of Population Aging: Reform Experiences and Development Trends in Typical Countries" to explore the future of social security systems amid global demographic shifts.
The opening ceremony featured addresses from Wang Min, President of YUFE; Zheng Gongcheng, a member of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and President of CASS; Zhou Hong, Vice President of CASS and Honorary President of its World Social Security Research Branch; and Ding Chun, President of the World Social Security Research Branch. The ceremony was presided over by YUFE Vice President Li Zhengbiao.
The conference agenda included two high-level roundtable forums on "Typical Countries' Social Security Reform Experiences and Trends" and "Experiences and Trends in Elderly Care and Livelihood Construction Amid Population Aging." Additionally, four parallel sub-forums allowed for deep dives into pension policy, employment strategies, social security frameworks, and practical innovations in the context of global aging, where scholars shared their latest research findings.
At the closing ceremony, Wang Xiaofen, Party Secretary of YUFE's School of Public Finance and Management, and Ding Chun, President of the World Social Security Research Branch, delivered summary remarks.

YUFE will continue to leverage high-level academic events like this conference to foster a dual empowerment between theory and practice in the social security field. The university aims to build an academic hub with regional characteristics and an international perspective, and to cultivate more innovative, specialized talent for the modernization of national governance.
