Dr. Gong Cheng of Zhonghua Vocational College has recently published an academic paper titled "Organizational agility unleashed: Tapping intellectual capital for digital transformation effectiveness" in the leading international journal Technovation. Dr. Gong served as both the first and corresponding author, with Yunnan University of Finance and Economics (YUFE) listed as the primary affiliated institution. This publication marks another significant research achievement for Dr. Gong, following a previously published highly-cited paper in the same journal.
Technovation is a top-ranked, authoritative journal in the field of technological innovation, focusing on cutting-edge research in technology, entrepreneurial strategy, and innovation management. It is recognized as a top-tier journal (ranked in Zone 1 by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, with a 2025 impact factor of 10.9, and rated as ABS 3-star and FMS-B).
Adopting an organizational agility perspective, the study reveals the mechanism through which intellectual capital drives the effectiveness of digital transformation. It provides a practical pathway for companies to enhance their competitive advantage by leveraging intellectual capital and organizational agility to navigate the challenges of digitalization. The paper innovatively deconstructs organizational agility into three dimensions—personnel agility, operational agility, and network agility—thereby deepening the understanding of dynamic capabilities.
Using survey data from Chinese and international firms, the research employed Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to test its hypotheses. The findings confirmed the full mediating effect of organizational agility in the relationship between intellectual capital (comprising human, structural, and relational capital) and the effectiveness of digital transformation. The study also validates the specific roles and complementary effects of these individual agility dimensions in enhancing transformation outcomes.
