Yunnan University of Finance and Economics (YUFE) has reached a new milestone in academic research, with 23 projects nominated for funding in the 2025 National Social Science Fund (NSSF) annual program, according to a list recently released by the National Office for Philosophy and Social Sciences.
This record-breaking achievement includes one Key Project, 11 General Projects, four Youth Projects, and seven Western Projects. The total number of nominations ranks YUFE 69th among all institutions nationwide and second in Yunnan Province. With an average approval rate of 23%, both the number of projects and the success rate represent the best results in the university's history.
The nominated projects span eight academic disciplines:
 - Applied Economics: 7

 - Theoretical Economics: 5

 - Area Studies and International Relations: 3

 - Management: 2

 - Ethnology: 2

 - Marxist Theory: 2

 - Journalism and Communication: 1

 - Political Science: 1

Notably, the 12 combined nominations in Theoretical and Applied Economics place YUFE first in the nation for economics-related disciplines, showcasing the formidable strength and positive momentum of the university's economics programs.
This success is attributed to the forward-thinking and systematic planning of the university's Party Committee and administration, spearheaded by the "Strengthen the University through Research" strategy, which has vigorously promoted organized research initiatives. The Division of Science & Technology Administration worked in close collaboration with all schools to foster a vibrant research atmosphere through meticulous management and targeted support, fully mobilizing the faculty's enthusiasm for research.
The application drive was kicked off with a mobilization meeting where university leadership personally outlined the strategy and set ambitious goals for the "three major national funds." The Division of Science & Technology Administration and various schools organized multiple review sessions, inviting renowned experts from both inside and outside the university to provide one-on-one mentorship. Research teams meticulously revised and polished their proposals to continuously improve their quality.
Thanks to the strong support of the university leadership, the close cooperation of all schools, and the collective efforts of the faculty, YUFE has once again achieved a breakthrough in its NSSF project nominations.
Heartfelt congratulations are extended to all the faculty members whose projects have been nominated for funding. It is hoped that all faculty will continue their efforts and achieve even greater success in the 2026 application cycle for the major national funds.
