Deputy Secretary of the University Party Committee Shi Zhongjun Participates in Yunnan Higher Education Delegation's Visit to Thailand and Laos

From February 16th to 23rd, the Yunnan Higher Education Delegation, organized by the Yunnan Provincial Department of Education and composed of 12 universities in the province, visited Thailand and Laos. During the visit, the “4th Thailand-Yunnan Education Cooperation Forum” and the Yunnan Higher Education Exhibition and Exchange Meeting were held in Thailand and Laos, respectively.

Shi Zhongjun, Deputy Secretary of the University Party Committee, participated in the delegation and introduced the university’s construction and development and the achievements of international student education at the exhibition and exchange meeting, promoting the “Study at YUFE” related projects and policies.

During the visit, Shi Zhongjun and the delegation visited the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University, Kasetsart University, Mae Fah Luang University, National University of Laos, Souphanouvong University, Lao-China Railway Technical Vocational College, Laos Vientiane Liadou Public School, Laos Vientiane China-Laos Friendship School and other schools and institutions, laying the foundation for the university to expand educational exchange and cooperation in Thailand and Laos in the next step and forging friendships. Long Xiguo, Secretary of the Party Branch of the University’s School of Overseas Education, participated in the visit.

From February 18th to 19th, the 4th Thailand-Yunnan Education Cooperation Forum was held at Mae Fah Luang University in Chiang Rai Province, Thailand. With the theme of “The Road Ahead: Shaping the Future of Thailand-Yunnan Education,” the forum was co-hosted by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation of Thailand, the Royal Thai Embassy in China, the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Kunming, and Mae Fah Luang University. More than 170 relevant officials, experts and scholars from educational administrative departments and universities from both China and Thailand participated in the forum. The forum consisted of the Thailand-Yunnan Education Cooperation Conference and the President’s Roundtable, as well as five sub-forums on green development, medicine and health, science and technology and agriculture, and language and culture. The heads of 32 universities in Yunnan and Thailand introduced their school characteristics and advantages, put forward cooperation visions, and conducted in-depth exchanges on the next step of education cooperation.

From February 20th to 22nd, the Yunnan Higher Education Exhibition and Exchange Meeting organized by the Yunnan Provincial Department of Education entered Vientiane and Luang Prabang in Laos, showcasing the achievements of Yunnan-Laos education cooperation, promoting the “Study in China, Study in Yunnan” related projects and policies, exploring the future of Yunnan-Laos education exchange and cooperation, and continuing the traditional friendship between China and Laos. With the theme of “Deepening China-Laos Education Cooperation and Jointly Cultivating Talents for China-Laos Friendship,” the education exhibition and exchange meeting was held at the National University of Laos and Souphanouvong University respectively.
