7th Annual Conference on Quantitative Finance and Insurance Held in Kunming

From August 22nd to 24th, the 7th (2025) Annual Academic Conference of the Quantitative Finance and Insurance Branch of the China Society for Optimization, Overall Planning and Economic Mathematics (CUMCM) was held in Kunming, attracting nearly 500 faculty, students, and industry experts from universities and research institutions.

The theme of this year's conference was "Quantitative Finance and Insurance Empowering the Development of New Quality Productive Forces." It highlighted key issues in areas such as tech-finance, digital finance, inclusive finance, financial innovation, and pension finance. The conference aimed to apply cutting-edge technology to solve real-world problems in the finance and insurance sectors, providing theoretical support for advancing national strategies like "pension finance," "supply-side structural reform," and "financial security."

The conference featured eight plenary reports from distinguished scholars representing institutions such as the Capital University of Economics and Business, the Central University of Finance and Economics, East China Normal University, The University of Hong Kong, the University of Toronto, and The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS). Their presentations covered a range of topics, including environmental regulation and capital market tail risk, as well as intellectual property-backed financing for technology startups.

A special Journal Editors' Forum was held, where representatives from leading academic publications, including Journal of Management Sciences in China, Management World, The Journal of World Economy, Journal of Systems & Management, and Risk Sciences, introduced their respective journals.

In the Distinguished Scholars Forum, experts from Sichuan University, Hunan University, Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University shared their latest theoretical research findings.

Throughout the conference, nearly 200 working papers were presented across 22 parallel forums. Faculty and students from approximately 150 domestic and international universities discussed a wide array of topics, including green finance, digital finance, household finance, pension finance, supply chain finance, energy finance, and financial market microstructure.

The conference was organized by the CUMCM Quantitative Finance and Insurance Branch and Yunnan University of Finance and Economics (YUFE). It was hosted by the YUFE School of Finance and the Yunnan Provincial Research Center for Catastrophe Risk Management. Co-organizers included the research team for the National Natural Science Foundation Key Project on "Investment, Financing Decisions, and Risk Management Driven by Digital Intelligence," the Center for Financial Engineering and Risk Management at Sun Yat-sen University (a key research base in Guangdong), and the Department of Finance at Southern University of Science and Technology.
